Premium and healthy ready-to-drink green tea Shizuoka is cheering up consumers in these trying times with encouragement from Japan as it introduces two new flavors: Tencha Matcha Honey and Gyokuro. Perfected by acclaimed tea masters of Shizuoka Prefecture in Japan and filled with a selection of tea sourced from prestigious plantations of the city, the new products are set to deliver benefits of quality green tea as an expression of goodwill and encouragement as both countries are striving to get through the tough situation together.

During this moment when both Thailand and Japan are suffering from the impact of COVID-19, tea farmers in Shizuoka Prefecture led by Mr. Kazuteru Ohashi, President of Kawane Matcha Co., Ltd, Shizuoka’s main source of premium tea, are sending good wishes from Japan to Thai people through two new flavors of Shizuoka ready-to-drink green tea: Tencha Matcha Honey and Gyokuro.

Tencha Matcha Honey highlights the taste of green tea grown on high mountains where it was covered by dark cloth for three weeks before harvest to keep the natural nutrients intact. The tea is then mixed with natural honey for enhanced freshness ideal for consumption during summer in Thailand. Meanwhile, the Gyokuro No Sugar 0 kcal flavor is made of premium tea which was also covered by dark cloth in order to maintain maximum nutrients, and boasts the exquisite taste of early flush tips sourced from a plantation at the altitude of over 2,000 feet surrounded by the beautiful mist of Shizuoka. The tea leaves are then undergone a delicate kneading process that has been passed on for generations to bring out the perfect aroma and ultimate Umami flavor of Gyokuro tea, while maintaining all the nutrients and the authentic taste that tea lovers would appreciate.

Tan Passakornnatee, President and CEO of Ichitan Group Public Company Limited, said, “As today consumers have become more health-conscious than ever, the premium and healthy green tea market has continued to see a significant growth for three consecutive years. Shizuoka green tea is the testimony of our commitment to developing quality products and great partnership with the people of Shizuoka. Since its launch, the brand Shizuoka has succeeded in maintaining a continuous as well as the number one position in the premium tea market."

Shizuoka green tea brand was created by Ichitan Group in collaboration with Shizuoka Prefecture of Japan. The products are made of premium-quality tea imported from Shizuoka, which is known as the capital city of tea in Japan. Developed and marketed under the concept of "Premium green tea from the hearts of people of Shizuoka,” the ready-to-drink green tea embraces distinctive qualities of tea grown in optimal conditions, including mineral-enriched soil and water melted from the snow on top of Mt. Fuji. In addition, Shizuoka green tea is the first and only beverage product that has ever received the right to use the Fujipi logo and certified as an official partner of the Shizuoka Tea Export Association. Shizuoka Gyokuro 440 ml is available now at leading retail stores nationwide, while Shizuoka Tencha Matcha Honey 440 ml is available only at 7-Eleven for a price of 30 baht.
